Kern County Teachers of the Year Gigi Maurer and Valerie Perez joined 17 News at Sunrise.
Gigi Maurer is a six grade teacher at Dr. Juliet Thorner Elementary school and has been teaching for 29 years.
Valerie Perez is a third grade teacher at Browning Road STEAM Academy.
The two will move on to the California State Teachers of the Year program.
