Perhaps you’ve wanted to get behind the wheel of an electric car, but decided the price tag wasn’t worth it. On Tuesday, some got the chance to do it for free.
Electrify America rolled out several cars at the Bakersfield Plaza on California Avenue. The event featured free test drives of several brands of electric cars, including the Tesla Model S.
The company says it wants to build an infrastructure for electric vehicles by adding more charging stations across the country, and they’re spending a lot of money to make it happen.
“We’re investing $2 billion over the entire country for electric vehicle adoption and $200 million will be here in California,” Electrify America’s Michael Tubman said.
The event continues Wednesday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the plaza on California Avenue.
If you test drive a vehicle, you’ll receive a $10 gift card as a thank you.
