A woman who pleaded no contest to child endangerment in a baby’s death at Motel 6, was in court this morning for her sentencing.
Celena Martinez was sentenced to a year in jail plus mandatory treatment for alcohol.
In August 2017, Martinez left 10-month-old twin babies in a bathtub, with the water running at the Motel 6 on California Avenue.
One of the twins clung to the side of the bathtub, but the other fell under the water and drowned.
Martinez told police she went to wake up her boyfriend and instead fell asleep as well. Martinez was watching the babies, whose mother was at work.
Martinez has credit for serving 158 days and was also given five years of formal probation.
