WASCO, Calif. (KGET) — Mayor Alex Garcia and other officials of Wasco hosted a neighborhood safety meeting on Thursday.
The community meeting took place at the playground on 15th and D Streets. Masks and dinner were provided.
The meeting focused on new safety programs and other initiatives in the city. Recently city council approved the purchase of new surveillance cameras and also started a camera rebate program to help homes and businesses afford security cameras. Mayor Alex Garcia said the cameras are essential.
“The sheriffs have an open investigation on one of the homicides last month..and just this week they put out a call to residents and I joined them, in putting out a call to send in any tips they may have,” Garcia said. “There was an image that was captured by surveillance and they have put that out to the public.”
