A Wasco High School football coach accused of sending sexually explicit messages to a student has pleaded not guilty to charges against him.
Miguel Saldana, 23, is a coach at the high school and also a detentions deputy.
He pleaded not guilty to exhibiting harmful material to a minor — a felony — and misdemeanor sexual misconduct with a child.
Officials say the student reported messages from Saldana to school administrators.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says detectives learned Saldana was allegedly attempting to obtain sexual favors from the student through Snapchat.
Saldana was arrested last month and placed on administrative leave with the school and the sheriff’s office.
