Vaughn Water Company issues warning of higher than normal 123-TCP levels

A water supplier in Bakersfield’s Rosedale community put out an alert over 123-TCP found at one of its water wells.

Vaughn Water Company says a sample it collected from its plant on Hageman Road and Jewetta Avenue had higher levels of the chemical than regulations allow.

123-TCP has been linked to causing cancer after long term exposure, but the company says there is no current emergency.

The sample was collected before the company built a new water treatment system into the facility.
