The Tehachapi Police Department said several thousand dollars worth of damage was done to the Tehachapi High School campus overnight.
Police were called to the campus early Thursday morning for a report of vandalism to the campus.
In a statement, police said school officials estimate 23 trees were cut down sometime Wednesday night, and also found that several door locks were damaged.
Several parents and students said the trees getting cut down were part of a senior class prank.
Tehachapi police are investigating the and ask anyone with information to contact them at 822-2222.
