BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The U.S. Geological Survey reported a preliminary 7.1 earthquake strike 11 miles from Ridgecrest, strong tremors of which rippled through Bakersfield.
Hundreds took to social media within minutes of the massive temblor.
“What is this?” Nic Kennelty posted on Facebook. “I haven’t felt an earthquake for 20 plus years and now the dang apocalypse is here. This is crazy.”
“Was standing by the door watching my truck shake, that’s a bit different,” wrote John Periera.
Debra Olsen Plagman wrote, “Didn’t feel the one yesterday but I felt the one that we had a few minutes ago! We were rockin’ and a rollin’!”
The powerful temblor occurred roughly 34 hours after a magnitude 6.4 quake hit the same region.
