UPDATE: Sheriff’s Activities League raises over $12,000 at barbecue lunch

UPDATE (April 24, 4:45 p.m.): Wednesday’s tri-tip sandwich lunch fundraiser raised a little over $12,000 for the Sheriff’s Activities League.

KGET and the Sheriff’s Activities League are teaming up for a fundraiser lunch outside our studios.

On Wednesday, April 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can get a barbecue sandwich for lunch to benefit the Sheriff’s Activities League and the children they serve.

Volunteers will be serving up lunches at the corner of 22nd and M streets.

The activities league offers programs to kids in an effort to keep them off the streets and help them become responsible, productive members of the community. Kids participate in activities like soccer, boxing, basketball and cheerleading.

For $10 you can get a tri-tip sandwich, chips, a cookie and a cold drink. Cash, credit or debit card payments will be accepted.
