UPDATE: Lockdown at Harris Elementary lifted Tuesday afternoon

UPDATE (1:32 p.m.): School and police officials confirm a lockdown at Harris Elementary School was lifted at around 1 p.m.

Bakersfield police said officers responded to a call of possible shots fired in the area of the school at around noon Tuesday.

Officers found shell casings in the roadway near Garnsey Lane and Mira Loma Drive and believe the shots came from a passing car.

Bakersfield Police Department Sgt. Ryan Kroeker said no one was injured and it didn’t appear like anyone or any buildings were hit.

A school official said all students and staff are safe.
