UPDATE: Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in Oildale collision

UPDATE (June 25, 2018): The Kern County coroner released the name of a motorcyclist who died Friday afternoon when he collided with a car.

The crash happened at Olive Drive, east of Roberts Lane on June 22.

CHP says a Lexus headed westbound drifted into the eastbound lanes and into the path of a Harley Davidson.

CHP says 56-year-old James Allen Morse tried to avoid hitting the vehicle, but couldn’t.

Morse died of his injuries at Kern Medical.

CHP could not confirm early reports of the collision being a hit-and-run due to a lack of witnesses.

A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday in Oildale.

The crash happened just before noon at the intersection of Olive Drive and Roberts Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

Officers are looking for the driver of a silver Chevrolet pickup truck which struck the motorcyclist and then took off. 

The identity of the person who died has not been released.
