Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story said the driver attempted to run over officers on scene. It has since been corrected to say the car hit an unmarked police car, before trying to flee.

At least two people were arrested, accused of driving a stolen car and then trying to run from officers.

On Thursday around 9:00 a.m., The Kern County Auto Theft Task Force saw a stolen car in the area of Colony Street and Panama Lane. Officers attempted to pull over the stolen vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. Officers did not pursue, according to officials.

The car was later located on the eastbound onramp to Highway 58 from Edison Highway. At some point, the driver allegedly hit an unmarked patrol care before the car overturned, according to California Highway Patrol.

Two people in the stolen car attempted to run from officers but were caught.

Officials did not identify the suspects but said they were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

They were arrested and booked for assault on a peace officer and stolen vehicle charges, per CHP.
