Today: Adventist Health hosts free symposium on hospital shootings and “coping with chaos”

News

About two weeks ago, Mercy Hospital Southwest experienced a “code black,” bringing dozens of first responders to the scene. Eight months before that, a man shot out a glass door at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital, prompting a massive response. Our community has also been greatly impacted by the Las Vegas mass shooting.

In light of these events, Adventist Health Bakersfield will host an event where people with real-life crisis experience will share lessons on dealing with these situations.

Among the guest speakers:

· The CEO of the Las Vegas hospital that treated most of the critical patients from the Route 91 shooting in October.
· The CEO of Bakersfield Heart Hospital

The event is happening this morning from 9 a.m. until noon at the CSUB Business Development Center. There will be a Q&A at the end of the event.

The event is free and open to the public.
