Tinkergarten helps get kids outside and away from screens

A kids’ program spanning 48 states is now in Bakersfield, helping families make memories while learning in the great outdoors.

Tinkergarten is a learning program for kids six months to 8 years old, with a focus on play.

Bakersfield leader Alicia Rice said it helps get kids away from screens and back in the real world.

“That’s the big goal of Tinkergarten,” said Rice. “Getting families outside, playing, using their imaginations, and doing things kids aren’t doing anymore now that there’s so much screen time in everyone’s lives.”

The program is meant to help kids develop skills like empathy, collaboration and problem solving.
The goal is for all families to have access to high quality early learning.
