Three people were arrested for the murder of 3-year-old Major Sutton which happened in the 800 block of Pershing Street on Nov. 10, 2017.
The following persons were arrested this morning without incident and were booked into the Kern County Jail for murder and conspiracy to commit murder, according to Bakersfield Police Department.
- Tyrone Deangelo Johnson, age 21
- David Reagan Palms, age 19
- Myeisha Bernice Dale, age 29
Johnson has been charged in court 12 different times during the last three years. In fact, he was arrested and charged with a gang-related crime nine days after Major Sutton was killed, but the charges were dismissed two days later. Palms has previously been charged with battery, and Dale was previously arrested for drunk disorderly conduct.
Sutton was killed when two masked men broke into his family’s apartment and opened fire. Major’s pregnant mother, Johniece Williams, and his 5-year-old brother King were also shot, but survived.
Bakersfield Police Chief Lyle Martin released the following statement:
“Last year, our community suffered a record number of homicides, including the shooting death of three-year old Major Sutton. Today’s arrests are the result of a long and difficult investigation demonstrating our commitment to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for such despicable and cowardly acts. We are grateful to the assisting local, state, and federal agencies as well as the many community members who continue to support the families of those lost to gun violence in our city.”
BPD would like to remind the public that the murder of 5-year-old Kason Guyton, which occurred in the 600 block of California Avenue on Feb. 23, 2017, remains unsolved.
