The Mission at Kern County is asking for help to serve some of the area’s people most in need this summer.
Officials say they are in need of two critical items.
The Mission says it is nearly at full capacity and in need of blankets. They are asking for new or gently used twin size blankets. If you have any you can spare, you can bring them to their donation center at 821 E. 21st St. You can also call 325-0863.
And, when temperatures exceed 100 degrees, the Mission opens its doors as a cooling center. People can cool off inside and they’ll need water to stay hydrated as well.
The Mission is holding a Water Drive with Movement Mortgage to collect much needed water for people trying to stay cool.
From now until July 20, 10 locations will be set up to collect gallons or bottles of water for the Mission.
You can drop off water at any of the following locations.
