A Tehachapi hotel was forced to close its doors after a visit from Kern County Public Health Department.

The Baymont Inn Suites in Tehachapi, located at 500 Steuber Rd, was closed Monday after health officials found rodent droppings throughout the food prep area as well as inside cabinets in the food service area, according to a report from Kern Public Health Department.

Other violations included cluttered equipment, littering and improperly stored food products.

In order to pass its next inspection, the hotel was advised to clean and sanitize all food contact areas, remove non-working equipment to prevent the harborage of rats and fix the kitchen refrigerator, according to officials.
