Teenager sentenced for firing imitation gun at officer

News

A  teenager who fired an imitation gun at an officer last May was sentenced in court.

Jesus Bello, now 20 years old, received 3 years probation Wednesday.

On May 18, 2017, Bakersfield Police Department say Bello allegedly ran from an officer who tried to speak with him in the 2500 block of Bishop Drive in Northeast Bakersfield.

During the chase, Bello fired an imitation gun at an officer several times. An imitation gun sounds and looks similar to a normal firearm; however, does not have the capabilities to discharge a projectile from the gun’s barrel, according to BPD.

The officer shot back, but Bello wasn’t hit. Bello was later found on a nearby roof and arrested.
