Teenager arrested on attempted-murder charge after throwing illegal firework into crowd

A 15-year-old juvenile was arrested on an attempted-murder charge after throwing a lit, illegal firework into a crowd of people, injuring one person and damaging a vehicle, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. 

The teenager threw the firework into the crowd Wednesday around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Virginia and Flower Streets, near Kern Medical, KCSO said. 

The person who was hurt by the firework was treated for minor injuries. 

The name of the teenager who was arrested has not been released.
