Teen killed in hit-and-run two days before 16th birthday, family says

Update: Coroner identifies teen as Erica Faith Truman, 15. A vigil is planned Monday night. 

Update: CHP located and arrested the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run over the weekend. On Sunday morning, officers arrested Herbert Mallory Jr. on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.


A teen was killed over the weekend, after she was involved in a hit-and-run, according to CHP. 

Family and friends say the accident happened at the intersection of N. Chester Avenue and Decatur Street Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

The teen was crossing the street when she was hit by a truck. The driver involved took off. 

Balloons line the intersection where she was hit. She died two days before her 16th birthday, according to family. 

The suspected driver was described as a man driving a silver Ford Ranger with front damage and possibly with a red camper shell. 

Officials have not yet released her identity.
