More than 300 people turned out for a Christmas tradition raising money for local schools.
The Bakersfield Mariott was the site of the Teddy Bear Picnic on Thursday.
Every year, the Bakersfield City School District foundation holds a luncheon to raise money for grants.
The grants are awarded to teachers to fund educational projects they normally could not.
Vice President of the BCSD Education Foundation says it’s a good investment for the students.
“These kids are going to be our leaders someday,” he said. “This is a good investment to go in there so they can have the tools to learn what they need to do to lead us later on.”
Some of the activities at the luncheon included singing, dancing and a silent auction.
