At Sugartwist in Northwest Bakersfield, doughnut lovers ate their hearts out in a doughnut-eating contest.
J.P. Masuda, the 2017 champion, defended his title, finishing the monster-sized confection in just under 50 seconds.
Flood Ministries and United Way of Kern County teamed up consume calories for a good cause. They sold doughnuts and took donations for the homeless.
“We will also be collecting donations for the regift project–so new or gently used household items–things like microwaves, dishes, silverware, cleaning supplies, beds,” said Jessica Janssen, the manager of United Way Homelessness Projects.
