Suspected shoplifters walk right into police as they try to escape

A pair of suspected shoplifters in Bakersfield thought they were getting away from police, but instead they walked right into them.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at Marshalls on Ming Avenue.

Police say two men took merchandise from the store, but police were on the scene preparing to arrest them.

They say the two men tried slipping out through a back door where officers were waiting.

So they went back inside and allowed themselves to be detained.

Police did not identify the suspects but said they’ve been caught stealing before.
