Suspect wanted for questioning in disappearance of Bakersfield man

New developments tonight in the case of a missing Bakersfield man, as police are now saying Victor Trejo is the victim of a homicide. Now they need your help finding the man wanted for questioning.

Victor Trejo was one of many missing persons in Kern County. But unlike the majority, he wasn’t found safe. Trejo went missing in October 2017. Family says he was visiting a friend Southwest Bakersfield when he vanished. Even though police say they still haven’t found his body, they are treating his case as a murder.

Five days later, his car was found abandoned in a South Bakersfield neighborhood. From the start, Trejo’s family suspected the worst. In November, BPD held a large scale operation in an attempt to locate evidence in Trejo’s case, but they say their search came up empty.

Now, they’re looking for Julio Lara who they say fled to Mexico. Lara is wanted for questioning in the Trejo case. They say there is also an active arrest warrant for Lara on charges of kidnapping to commit robbery, assault with a firearm, and robbery. Julio Lara is 33 years old and 5’11.  Investigators say his whereabouts in Mexico are unknown.

If you have any information on Julio Lara, you’re urged to call BPD at (661)-327-7111, or you can remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at (661)-322-4040.
