Suspect in Cal City double homicide identified

California City police are investigating a drive by shooting that left a 12-year-old girl and her uncle dead on Sunday around 7:30 p.m. at the 900 block of Lupine Loop at Corwin Avenue.

The young victim has been identified as Trinity Wiggins. Her uncle, 39-year-old Michael Wiggins was the other victim.

The shooter, 32-year-old Desmond Perry, pulled up to the home and began shooting from inside his car. According to police, the weapon believed to have been used was a riffle.

Michael Wiggins was standing outside the door of the home when he was shot. Trinity was inside the home when one of the bullets went through the house and struck her.

At this time the family has left the home for a safer location.

“We’re getting our fair share of a rise in crime, but the city as a whole has come together and helped us with tips that have helped solved crimes in the past,” said Chief Eric Hurtado of the California City Police Department. “Since our information has gone out, we received several tips.”

If you know anything about this deadly shooting or the suspect, you’re urged to call the California City Police Department at 760-373-8606.
