Suspect identified in Voorhies Elementary letter scandal

A woman who allegedly sent malicious letters to parents of Voorhies Elementary School students posing as the principal, has been identified.

Elvia Duenas allegedly sent a letter in Spanish, that when translated, allege principal Erick Casallas was gay and loves little boys.

Duenas was cited on misdemeanor charges of petty theft and embezzlement, according to Bakersfield Police Department. 

The charges stem from the use of school supplies to send the fraudulent letters.

Duenas is out on $7,500 bail and is due in court March 16.
