Bakersfield City School District’s 32nd annual Math Bowl competition is Friday.
More than 250 elementary and middle school students will put their math skills to the test at Cato Middle School.
This year’s theme is “Just Be U, Math Bowl 32.” Students will compete as individuals or teams in categories like “The Thinker,” which tests the student’s problem solving skills, and “The Super Star,” which is a written test of 50 multiple choice and response questions.
“We like to emphasize our schools to participate in these events so the kids know that math is fun and this is something they can do all the time,” said Claudia Maldonado, math instructional specialist.
The students have been preparing for months to qualify to compete today.
