A man who tried to jump on a train while leading authorities on a chase and barricaded himself in a vehicle at a Boyle Heights railyard for hours has been taken into custody.
The pursuit began about 2:25 p.m. when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies spotted a stolen vehicle.

About 2:30 p.m., the driver got off the 5 Freeway after driving on the shoulder lane of the highway.
He drove through a fence in the railyard and was off-roading along train tracks, aerial video from Sky5 showed.
The driver ditched the vehicle after it became disabled and ran toward tracks as a train passed. He appeared to be trying to get on the moving train.
He then tried to jump over a fence, to no avail.
He ran back toward the abandoned vehicle and got back in, in an effort to elude authorities.
He then appeared to be on the phone and was waving something over his head before getting back into the vehicle, aerial video showed. It is unclear whether the man was armed.
Responding deputies were monitoring the situation with their guns drawn nearby. Several patrol units were staged in the area, including some blocking exits of the railyard.
Later, a SWAT team and armored vehicle arrived at the location.
Using a saw device attached to the armored vehicle, officials went through a fence in an attempt to get to the suspect. Deputies then approached the suspect vehicle on foot.
Another armored vehicle was also approaching the suspect vehicle from the front.
Around 5:40 p.m. the driver got out of the vehicle, surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody, aerial video showed.
No further details about the suspect have been released.
