South Bakersfield bomb scare rendered safe by BPD bomb squad


A report of a suspicious device at an auto storage facility in South Bakersfield caused a scare Wednesday morning as the Bakersfield police bomb squad responded to the scene.

At around 7:15 a.m., Bakersfield police officers responded to Copart Auto Storage Facility in the 2200 block of Coy Avenue. A caller to police dispatchers reported what appeared to be a pipe bomb inside a vehicle 

Bakersfield bomb squad officers later rendered the device safe and found no explosive material. 

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
