Bakersfield police have begun wearing body cameras as part of a test program approved earlier in the year by the city council.
The program went into effect Sunday, providing the Bakersfield Police Department with 33 cameras.
The BPD gang unit received 14 cameras, and the impact unit received 15, according to police.
The total cost of the program, approved April 11 by the city council, comes out to $18,000.
Officers are using a combination of Lenslock and Axon cameras, police said.
