The community is invited to attend “Shrek the Musical,” presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County and Bakersfield Youth Fine Arts Academy.
“Shrek the Musical” hits the stage at the Bakersfield City School District’s Education Center, located at 1300 Baker St., on July 6 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 7 at 1 p.m.
The cast of 35 children, ages 5-17, have been attending a musical theater workshop at the Armstrong Youth Center this summer, which has included dance, voice and acting lessons.
Join Shrek (Cash Jones Webb/Logan Burdick), our unlikely hero, and his loyal steed Donkey (Jesse Magdaleno) as they set off to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona (Sophia Wright/Kelly Burdick/Charlotte Smith) from her tower, guarded by a fire breathing love-sick dragon (Hailey Cross). Add the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad (Mac Medieros), a gang of fairytale misfits, and a biscuit with attitude and you’ve got an irresistible mix of adventure, laughter and romance, guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages!
The production is open to the public and tickets are $10.
