ShotSpotter detection leads to an arrest for reckless discharge

A ShotSpotter detection helped Bakersfield Police Department arrest a man overnight for reckless discharge of a firearm.

On Saturday around 11:38 p.m., police were sent to the 300 block of Clyde Street, for a ShotSpotter activation, according to police. 

Officers found two spent .22 caliber casings and a firearm in the front yard of a residence. 

No victims of the shooting were located.

The investigation revealed 26-year-old, Esteban Lucio, fired a firearm into the ground.

Lucio was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm.
