ShotSpotter detection helped Bakersfield Police Department arrest a man, who admitted to discharging his firearm into the ground 9 times.
On Sunday around 1:58 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of E. 11th Street, for a ShotSpotter activation, according to police.
Officers located 9 casings discharged from a .40 caliber firearm, in the front yard of a residence.
The homeowner, where the casings were found, was contacted and he admitted to discharging his firearm into the ground.
Witnesses in the area stated that the gunfire had been celebratory.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
Police arrested Juan Mendoza for negligent discharge of a firearm.
The firearm used was seized.
