A shoe drive benefiting the Bakersfield Homeless Center kicked off Thursday.
Over 25 years of the Shoes For the Homeless Shoe Drive, more than 75,000 shoes have been collected for the homeless at the Bakersfield Homeless Center, according to organizers.
Organizers are hoping to receive around 4,000 pairs of shoes for Bakersfield’s homeless for the upcoming summer months when shoes can help protect people from burning their feet on hot pavement.
If you have gently used pair of shoes you can drop them off Guarantee Shoe Center located at 21st Street and Chester Avenue in Downtown Bakersfield. Guarantee Shoe Center will give donors $10 off a new pair of shoes with a donation.
The shoe drive take place until April 29.
