Officials identified the driver killed as Jair Ignacio Espinoza, 16 years old, of Shafter.
Shafter Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened Monday afternoon.
On Oct. 29 around 3:20 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of N. Shafter Ave. for reports of an injury collision. At the scene of the crash, officers found a Dodge truck had collided with a Honda sedan, according to police.
The driver of the Honda, now identified as Espinoza, was suffering from major injuries and was transported to a Bakersfield hospital where they were pronounced dead. A passenger in the Honda was also transported for injuries sustained in the crash.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision.
