Students were snickering and parents were fuming Tuesday as a video circulated that seemed to show two students engaging in a sex act during class at a Bakersfield high school.
Both the Kern High School District and the Kern County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they were investigating the video and the possible incident.
The high school district said parents of students in the class were notified.
Angry parents told 17News that the incident happened at North High School on Monday.
The parents said it involved a male and a female student and that it happened during class with a teacher present.
They said a SnapChat video of the incident was circulating; A witness at the school said students were seen viewing video like the one being described.
“North High School administration is aware of the situation between two students,” Kern High School District Spokesman Erin Briscoe said. “The school’s administration immediately contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and made contact with the parents of each student in the class. The Kern High School District’s goal is always the safety and welfare of our students. This incident will be thoroughly investigated and the appropriate discipline will be applied.”
