Several cars broken into, at least 1 stolen in Central Bakersfield neighborhood

Several cars were broken into and at least one was stolen in a Central Bakersfield neighborhood Friday.

The break-ins and theft occurred in the 2300 block of Cedar Street, near A Street, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. Police could not provide an approximate time of theft, but say it happened overnight.

“Someone broke into our cars here and broke the windshield out,” Dennis Frick said. “They stole a key to my Ford pickup truck and ransacked my stuff and I didn’t have a lot of value.”

BPD confirmed the suspects broke into two cars and stole one, a Ford F-150.

Bakersfield PD could not provide suspect information at this time.

Anyone with information on these break-ins is asked to call police at 661-327-7111.

Police advise the public to help themselves avoid vehicle break-ins by keeping their doors locked and by not having valuable items visible, including coins, phone chargers, and even food.
