Search continues for man accused of robbing Wells Fargo in Southwest Bakersfield

Police are looking for a man accused of robbing a bank in Southwest Bakersfield Saturday.

Lawrence Alvin Cherry, 59, is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo at 5401 California Ave. around noon, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

His record shows he has been arrested 14 times, for eight misdemeanors and six felonies, according to the Kern County Superior Court website. His most recent arrest was May 19 for petty theft and drug charges.

Cherry allegedly delivered a threatening note to a bank teller demanding the money, police said. 

Cherry is described as being 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 220 pounds.

No one was hurt.

Police did not say how much money was stolen.
