Two sets of closures on highways may cause some changes to your commutes starting this weekend.

First, ramp and lane closures will affect Highway 99 starting Saturday, Jan. 27 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • The on-ramp onto Highway 99 from eastbound lanes of Olive Drive will be closed along with the on-ramp to the northbound 99 from Buck Owens Boulevard.
  • Southbound Highway 99 to the Golden State Highway connector will be closed.
  • The #4 lane between the Airport Avenue overcrossing and the Golden State Highway overcrossing will be closed.

Work during these closures is focused on storm maintenance, drain cleaning and landscaping.

Caltrans says detours will be posted during the closures.

Then, starting Monday Jan. 29 through Thursday, Feb. 1, Caltrans will close the eastbound Westside Parkway off-ramp between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. meaning drivers will need to exit the parkway on Mohawk Street.

Work during the closures in this area is to install concrete barrier rails on the eastbound Kern River Bridge and the bridge crossing Truxtun Avenue.

Caltrans says at least one lane in each direction of Truxtun Avenue will remain open during construction.

As a reminder, Caltrans advises work may be delayed, rescheduled due to weather or other unforseen factors.
