Ridgeview High School threat deemed ‘not credible’

A school threat circulated overnight on social media, targeting Ridgeview High School. 17News received several messages regarding a screenshot from Snapchat warning students about a shooting.

Kern High School and Bakersfield Police Department investigated and ruled the threat was not credible. Extra security will be on campus Wednesday. 

The district released the following statement:

Student and staff safety is a priority for the Kern High School District. Late yesterday afternoon, Ridgeview High School administration became aware of a threat to the school. Kern High School District Police and the Bakersfield Police Department investigated. Kern High School District police determined that the threat was not credible. Parents were notified Tuesday evening of the threat via the district’s all-call system. Additional officers and security will be on campus today.

This is the second school threat this week, the first happened at Liberty High School.
