A 26-year-old Ridgecrest man is custody facing attempted murder charges after attacking his mother, but not before also attacking officers and another inmate, according to Ridgecrest police.
Ridgecrest police said Miguel Hector Mora was picked up by officers Saturday after Mora tried to suffocate his mother at an apartment in Ridgecrest and took off in her car. Police said Mora had told his mother he was having delusions.
Then, according to police, Mora returned to the apartment, tried to give officers a fake name, but was arrested.
During the booking process, officers say Mora kicked another inmate in the throat. That inmate was not injured.
As Mora was getting shackled for transport to Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield, police said he was able to break loose and tried to punch officers but was subdued.
Mora was then taken to a Ridgecrest hospital where had another altercation with officers, police said.
Mora was eventually booked on attempted murder, robbery, auto theft, assault with a deadly weapon, violating parole, resisting arrest and other charges.
Mora is next due in court Wednesday morning.
