The League of Dreams is kicking off thier new season with new fields.

Part of the 2019 Leadership Bakersfield class helped revamp the baseball park at Fruitvale Norris Park, putting in new duggouts that are accessable to wheelchairs and walkers.

The “Revamp the Park” project started in November, but Sunday was the first time teams got to play on the revamped fields.

“After several years of hoping and wishing that someone would take on this project, it’s really exciting to see someone take on this project, and to see that it’s finally done,” executive director Jessica Mathews said.

League of Dreams is a non-profit athletics league which allows people with disabilities to play sports like basketball, bowling and baseball.
