A Downtown bar plans to celebrate the life of a locally born, but internationally recognized sound engineer.

David “Max” Reese was an engineer, song writer and photo artist.

He died in November in Oregon, where he retired.

He was a sound engineer for the film “FX” and the movie’s soundtrack went platinum.

Reese also worked with musicians such as Tom Petty and Korn.

Ken Reed, owner of Guthrie’s Alley Cat, says Reese was a good man and prolific photographer. The bar was a favorite of his and you can find a picture of him hanging on the wall.

Reed says there will be music and more at his send off at the Alley Cat, Saturday at 2 p.m. The bar is located at 1525 Wall St.
