The former owner and the former manager of R.V. Peddler, Ken Searcy, is behind bars accused of embezzling millions of dollars.
Searcy, spoke with 17 News from the downtown jail. Investigators say he and owner Faye Morero took trailers on consignment, sold them, and never gave the original owner the money or the new owner the title to the R.V.
In all, the pair is accused of embezzling $2.8 million.
17 News first told you about the accusations two years ago when R.V. Peddler suddenly closed its doors, leaving dozens of customers in limbo, where many remain today.
“Besides the people that were hurt there’s another story here, Searcy said. “There should be eight people that have warrants, not two, there should be eight.”
Searcy claims more information will come out during Friday’s scheduled preliminary hearing, and called the investigation a “witch hunt.”
Both Searcy and Morero face felony charges of grand theft and conspiracy and are each being held on $100,000 bail.
Morero has declined our request for a jailhouse interview.
