A discount and tobacco store in Old Town Kern is back open after it was closed by Kern County Public Health officials due to a severe rat infestation problem.
On Friday, officials closed Mufeed’s Discount and Tobacco store located at 830 Baker Street. According to officials, they found several issues including rat feces and a leaking sink next to a car battery.
Officials also reported trash in the back area of the store and the owner removing rat traps.
On Monday, Mufeed’s reopened with a B letter grade.
