Police search for man in connection to South H Street killing, make 2 arrests

Bakersfield police have made two arrests in connection to the shooting and killing of a man in South Bakersfield on New Year’s Day, and police are looking for a third person suspected to be the shooter.

Police said they are looking for 28-year-old Adam Arellano. He is suspected in the killing of 43-year-old Edgar Lopez. Lopez was shot at an apartment complex in the 3100 block of South H Street on Tuesday. Lopez died as he was being taken a hospital.

Police describe Arellano as sanding 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police said they arrested two people for accessory to murder. Officers arrested Irene Arellano, 39, and Martin Valadez, 40, of Bakersfield.

Police said Adam Arellano is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen leaving the area of the 3300 block of California Avenue on Jan. 1 at around 4 p.m.
