STARBUCKS STABBING

Two victims were stabbed inside the Starbucks at 5101 Stockdale Highway just before noon Sunday. Bakersfield Police say, the weapon used was possibly a machete.

The adult male suspect entered the Starbucks and stabbed two people – a woman and a man – causing them major injuries.

Police learned the woman was once involved in a dating relationship with the suspect and that she was the suspect’s intended target. But the second victim, Blaine Hodge, jumped in to help; witnesses calling him a “Good Samaritan.” Both were taken to an area hospital. They are reportedly in critical condition but stable.

Suspect is in custody. California Highway Patrol officers found him around the corner from the Starbucks in the 5100 block of Marsha Street.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call BPD at (661) 327-7111.

17 News crews checked up on the Starbucks location all day Sunday. By our checks, Starbucks remained closed for the rest of the day following the stabbing.
