Police investigate shooting that wounded woman in South Bakersfield

A woman was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound early Sunday morning in a shooting that may have happened near South High School.

Bakersfield police officers were called to the 700 block of Planz Road for reports of gunfire nearby. Officers were told Kern County sheriff’s deputies were with a woman who was wounded by gunfire in the 100 block of South Chester Avenue. 

Police said the shooting was reported to have happened around South High School.

Police did not have a description of a suspect and said the shooting could be related to a party in the area of the 3200 block of Parkland Court.
