Police: Felon in possession of guns, meth arrested in Tehachapi

A man was arrested in Tehachapi for being a felon in possession of meth, drug paraphernalia and guns.

On Wednesday, Jan. 2, Tehachapi police officers noticed a suspicious car parked near a vacant building  in the 400 block of Steuber Road. Officers say the passenger in the car, Zachary Mulligan, 30, of Tehachapi, was on active probation for narcotics.

In the car, officers found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, approximately 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, scales, drug paraphernalia, and a switchblade knife in Mulligan’s backpack, according to police.

Officers say Mulligan is a previously convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

Mulligan was booked into Kern County jail for multiple gun and drug charges. Hi bail is set at $110,000.
