Police: Alleged killer’s daughters were present at scene of murder

The daughters of alleged killer Francisco Jesus Banos, 24, were present at the location where a man was shot to death, according to newly released police reports.

The victim, Fabian Zuniga, 22, was found April 15 in the 700 block of Monroe Street, though police said the shooting occurred at another location. He was suffering from a gunshot wound through the heart, and was taken to a local hospital where he later died, according to the Arvin Police Department.

Banos’ two daughters were both interviewed by police, one telling officers she did not see the shooting because she was outside playing on her scooter. The other said she did not see it because she was playing indoors with her phone, according to the reports.

The children also told police they saw their father cleaning up blood from the sidewalk outside the home.

Banos, who police said is a known member of the Arvina 13 gang, was arrested at a hotel in Castaic May 3rd.

He is charged with murder and assault with a firearm.

Banos is due back in court Thursday.
